The Konstamonitou monastery it is built in a forest ,200 meters above the sea level,50 minutes walk from the coast.
During the ten centuries of its existence, the monastery has always held the first place among the other monasteries of the Holy Mountain
The monastery was built during the second half of the 10th century, by three monks, Athanasius, Nicholas and Antonius from Adrinople
